Assam Police extremely vigilant along Indo-Bangla border...

Guwahati, A top police officer stated on saturday that the assam police is on high alert along the India-Bangladesh border to make sure that nobody can enter the state illegally in light of the disturbance in the neighboring nation. G P Singh, the director General of police, stated that no one from bangladesh will be permitted to enter india per a decision from the Center. Speaking to reporters outside of a book launch here, Singh stated that the BSF is the first line of defense along the border and that the assam police, being the second line, is also on high alert. The DGP stated, "There is, however, a rider that states that holders of indian passports, who are primarily traders and students, will be permitted entry if their documents are found to be valid after proper verification."

He said that the Center has also issued a directive stating that nationals of the neighboring nation will be escorted back to bangladesh via a secure corridor following proper passport and visa verification. With respect to preparations for the upcoming Independence Day festivities in assam, the DGP stated that sufficient measures have been implemented to guarantee impenetrable security throughout the region. "The SPs have been directed to beef up security in the parade grounds," he stated.

In response to allegations of ULFA militants along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border, the top police official recently traveled to many Upper assam districts to assess security measures. He asked the group to desist from using violence and causing unrest now that the state's economy was flourishing as a result of greater investments. The DGP continued, "The federal and state governments are prepared to hold talks with the ULFA if they have anything to say."
