Kerala is anticipating the release of Chiyaan Vikram's next film, Thangalaan, with great anticipation due to the actor's substantial fan base in the state. With only three days till the film's premiere on august 15, the Thangalaan crew has been actively promoting the film throughout several states. The Thangalaan team had intended to undertake promotional campaigns in kerala after Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad; however, the campaign has since been canceled due to the wayanad landslides.

With at least 431 deaths, over 378 injuries, and 130 missing persons reported, the wayanad landslides on July 30 are among the worst disasters in Kerala's history. As a result, the Thangalaan crew believed it was improper to promote the movie in the state during a time of grief. Furthermore, money that was intended to be spent on the kerala promotions will now be sent to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. This was also posted on social media by Kerala's distributor of the movie, Gokulam Movies. In the past, vikram had expressed his sadness over the terrible loss of many lives and given Rs 20 lakh to the Chief Minister's relief fund.
Pa Ranjith is the director of Thangalaan, which stars vikram as a British-era tribal leader. For this part, vikram has once again undergone a drastic bodily alteration. In the movie, Malvika Mohanan portrays the powerful, magical goddess Aarathi, and she does a lot of stunts and action scenes. gv prakash is the film's composer of music. The censor board has certified the movie, which is based on the lives of those who lived in the Kolar gold Fields during the british era of gold extraction, as U/A.
