CBI Will Probe kolkata Doctor's Rape-Murder Inside Medical college,

Amid massive protests over the gruesome rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical college and Hospital, the calcutta high court on tuesday ordered that the investigation should be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).Earlier in the day, the high court rapped the West bengal government over the alleged rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical college and Hospital. Calling the incident “gruesome”, it asked the state what assurances it has given to the protesting healthcare professionals.

A division bench headed by Chief Justice TS Sivagnanam, with Justice Hiranmay Bhattacharya, observed that “something is missing” in the probe. It questioned how the then principal Sandip Ghosh, who submitted his resignation on monday (August 12), was reinstated as the principal of another premier medical college within hours. Ghosh applied for 15 days after the supreme court asked his lawyer to submit the resignation letter and subsequent appointment letter. The court initially said it was an attempt to cover up the rape and murder of the doctor's wife as suicide, and then followed by false statements by the former school principal.

"If he is resigned to his moral responsibility, do you wonder if he will pay? The principal of the school is the guardian of all practicing doctors. If he does not show compassion, who will? Your customer (general manager) is not working, he is at home. Is he so strong that a government counsel is representing him?" asked the court.
"Your client (the principal) will not do it. Ask him to resign; we are giving him the opportunity to submit a leave request before 3 pm today, otherwise we will submit the order.

The supreme court also observed that protesting doctors were upset and had the right to express their feelings. He asked the state government to contact the doctors as "they need to listen". After asking for a statement on the case under sealed cover, the court also asked why it waited to hand over the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
The victim's parents demanded a judicial inquiry into the case. Several PILs were also filed seeking cbi probe.
