In addition to applauding the country's noteworthy economic achievements and its impressive performance in sports, President Droupadi Murmu stressed the need of preserving constitutional ideals to boost India's international stature in her speech on the eve of the 78th Independence Day.
The President stated that India's development and future course have been significantly influenced by the fundamental values of democracy, fairness, and equality. "Remaining firm on constitutional principles will guarantee India's place on the global stage," she said. Her words coincide with India's ascent to prominence on the international scene, where it is acknowledged for both its economic prowess and its commitment to democratic principles.
President Murmu emphasized India's noteworthy advancements in a number of important areas, such as its ascent to the fifth-largest global economy and an average annual GDP growth rate of 8% between 2020–21 and 2023–24.India's economy has grown to become the fifth largest in the world because to this economic momentum, she said, adding that it will soon be in the top three. She also highlighted the efforts being made by the government to reduce poverty through programs like the PM Garib kalyan Anna Yojana. "India's financial accomplishments are a testament to the tireless efforts of our citizens and the aspirations of our leaders."
She urged people to modify their own lifestyles in order to fight global warming, underscoring the need of addressing climate change. "Despite the obstacles, india has made great strides toward addressing the reality of climate change." "As a global leader in this fight, we must all adopt small lifestyle changes to help combat the effects of global warming." The President's focus on climate justice highlights India's increasing influence in international climate negotiations, as it has become a leading representative of the Global South.
