Junior doctors' agitation continues at RIMS…

The protest of junior doctors of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), a government hospital located in Ranchi, jharkhand, continues. The doctors continued their 'pen down' agitation for the second consecutive day on wednesday (August 14) in protest against the rape and murder of a female doctor in Kolkata. The agitating doctors decided to take out a rally from the Rimsonian Hall on the campus on wednesday evening in support of their demands. They welcomed the kolkata High Court's decision to initiate a cbi inquiry into the matter.

According to a PTI report, Ankit Kumar, president of the junior Doctors Association (JDA) at RIMS, said, "We have decided to continue our agitation at RIMS in solidarity with several associations from other states. We demand a central law to ensure the safety of doctors at the workplace." He further said, "We also want to install security cameras in all medical colleges and hospitals in jharkhand where emergency services are being provided. Special security arrangements should be implemented for women doctors working in night shifts or during late nights.

Ankit Kumar, president of the junior Doctors Association at RIMS, further said, "OPD and elective operation theatre (OT) services will be affected during the day, however emergency services will continue with deployment of additional doctors to ensure patient care." On the other hand, RIMS officials have assured the agitating doctors that they will propose setting up two police posts and installing 1,200 CCTV cameras in the campus. Let us tell you that the body of the trainee woman doctor was found in a seminar hall of RG Kar Medical college and Hospital in kolkata, West bengal on august 9 and a civic volunteer was arrested the next day in connection with the crime.
