Independence Day 2024: Looking Back at PM Modi’s august 15 Attire Over the Years

Every august 15, the country eagerly awaits not only prime minister Narendra Modi’s speech from the ramparts of the red Fort but also his sartorial pick for the day, given that over the years, the prime minister’s turban has become the center of attention of I-Day functions.
Apart from reflecting his personal sense of style, the outfits also showcase India’s rich culture and traditions. News18 takes a look at the prime minister’s outfit choices over the years:

2023
Last year, PM Modi wore a Rajasthani-style turban with an off-white kurta and churidar and a black jacket.
2022
In 2022, the prime minister picked a white turban with tricolor print and paired it with a traditional white kurta-pajama set and a pale blue waistcoat — embodying the colours of the National Flag.
2021
Saffron was the colour PM Modi picked for his 2021 outing, with the headgear adorned with red patterns and a long tail. Dressed in a kurta and churidar, along with a blue shirt and stole, the prime minister addressed the nation from the ramparts of the red Fort.
2020
Prime minister Modi wore a saffron and cream 'Safa' in 2020. He paired the hat with a semi-transparent kurta.
2019
For the 73rd Independence Day, prime minister Modi wore a bright yellow turban from rajasthan and chose a half kurta and churidar to go with it.
2018
Saffron was also chosen when the prime minister wore the hat during his speech at the red Palace.
