india achieved independence through struggle after a long british rule. Today, 78 years are about to be completed since india got independence. In these 78 years, india has touched great heights of development and has made its name all over the world. The speed with which india is progressing today is due to the great struggle of our ancestors. Our ancestors put every drop of their blood at stake to get freedom for India. india got independence after a long struggle, fight and many movements.


There is a building in Shimla, which was the summer capital during the british rule, which has been a witness to every major event of independence. Currently, this building is being used as the indian Institute of Advanced Study. During the british rule, it used to be the Viceregal Lodge. After this, it became the President's residence and then in the year 1965, the then President Dr. sarvepalli radhakrishnan dedicated it for education.


It was constructed in 1888 at a cost of Rs. 38 lakhs. All the documents related to the independence and partition of the country were discussed in this building. This building has also witnessed the signatures on the letter of independence of India. The construction of the Viceregal Lodge began in 1884. This building was completed in 1888 at a total cost of Rs. 38 lakhs. A total of 13 viceroys stayed in this building till the independence of the country. Lord Mountbatten was the last viceroy. This building is of Scottish Baronian style. The furniture here is of Victorian style. There are a total of 120 rooms in the building. The interior decoration of the building is done with teak wood brought from Burma.
