Tricolor hoisted for the first time without fear…?

The country has completed 78 years of independence, for which the festival of Jashne Azadi is being celebrated with great pomp on the occasion of Independence Day on 15 August. At the same time, the villagers and surrendered Naxalites living in Naxalgarh of Bastar district of chhattisgarh are also celebrating this festival with great pomp. The tricolor was hoisted for the first time in 13 villages of five districts of Bastar division and the villagers here celebrated the national festival by hoisting the flag.

Actually, this village used to be a stronghold of Naxalites, due to which the villagers here did not hoist the tricolor on Independence Day due to fear of Naxalites. Naxalites used to celebrate this day as a black day, but due to the high spirits of the soldiers and the better strategy of Bastar police, now the Naxalites have gradually gone on the back foot in these areas. In such a situation, the villagers here are able to celebrate the festival of independence with great pomp, without fear. The villagers of the 13 villages where flag hoisting was done for the first time also took out a tricolour rally in the villages with the CRPF and local police personnel.

Naxalites went on the back foot due to the increasing pressure of the soldiers

Bastar IG Sundarraj P says that Naxalism had taken root in Bastar for the last 4 decades. Due to the fear of Naxalites, the villagers here were never able to celebrate the national festival of the country nor could they ever hoist the tricolour in their village due to the fear of Naxalites.

For the last few years, the anti-Naxal operation conducted in Bastar with better coordination between the paramilitary force deployed on the Naxal front and the local police force has not only caused great damage to the Naxalites, but the Naxalites have gone on the back foot to a great extent.
