The kannada film industry made a remarkable impact 

The 70th National Film Awards, held on august 16, with notable successes for the films Kantara and kgf Chapter 2.

Kantara emerged as a major winner, taking home the Best Picture award and earning Rishab Shetty the Best Actor accolade. The film also secured two additional awards in the Feature Film category, including Best Popular Film and Best Actor for Shetty, who also wrote and directed the film. kgf chapter 2 also shone brightly, winning the Best kannada Film award, while director Prashanth Neel and Hombale Films LLP received the Best Film award, and Anbariv was honored with the Best Action Direction award.

Released in september 2022, Kantara captivated audiences globally with its folklore-based narrative exploring the deep connection between humanity and nature. Set in Keradi, coastal Karnataka, the film delves into the cultural practices of Kambla and Bhootha Kola.

KGF Chapter 2, released in april 2022, continued the story from KGF: Chapter 1, exceeding expectations with its dramatic expansion of the kgf universe. Starring Yash, Sanjay Dutt, Srinidhi Shetty, Raveena Tandon, and Prakash Raj, the film follows Rocky's (Yash) ambitious quest to solidify his empire amid fierce adversaries, including the antagonist Adheera (Sanjay Dutt). Produced by vijay kiragandur under Hombale Films, kgf chapter 2 reinforced the franchise's success.

The success of these films at the National Film Awards has heightened excitement for their future installments. Rishab Shetty is working on Kantara 2, with the next release set to be a prequel titled Kantara Chapter 1. Meanwhile, while kgf Chapter 3 has been confirmed, its production is expected to start at a later date.
