While clade-1 causes serious health problems, clade-2 is said to be less dangerous. Clade-1 has a mortality rate of 1 to 10 percent, while Clade-2 has a mortality rate of less than 1 percent! However, the clade-1 IB variant, which currently has the highest mortality rate worldwide, is spreading rapidly. This has created a new concern in the countries of the world. At present, 100 cases of infection with variants of this clade-1 have been identified in four countries. Among them are Burundi, Kenya, uganda and Rwanda.
