The kerala police said that no case can be registered based on the hema Committee report. It is said that the reason for this is the lack of specific details. On august 19, the Justice hema Committee Report on the malayalam Film industry was released. The information was made available to journalists who requested it under the Right to Information Act. On monday (August 19) at 2.30 pm, the statement was handed over to media persons who were summoned to the office of the Department of culture in the Secretariat.
The commission expressed shock at the revelations about unfair practices prevailing in the film industry. It has also been reported that women are forced to submit to the sexual demands of high-ranking people, including prominent actors and producers. The report also contains insights into the widespread exploitation and denigration of women in the industry and the giving of code names to women willing to collaborate for opportunities in cinema. Those who refuse to cooperate are allegedly denied opportunities and marginalized. Testifying against unfair practices, producers and directors forced women to perform unwanted acts, claiming that agents also aided sexual exploitation in the industry. Speaking out against sexual exploitation can have serious repercussions. Victims are threatened and forced to comply or leave the sector, the report said. police said no case can be registered based on the hema Committee report. The police also said that a case could not be registered as there were no specific details about the persons, places, and circumstances involved.

The 233-page report has been released with some sensitive information hidden to protect the privacy of individuals. The Justice hema Committee was set up in 2017 to inquire into the challenges faced by women in the film industry. After two-and-a-half years, the report was handed over to the government on december 31, 2019. The group was formed following the attack on a leading actress in 2017.
