Changing the name of shamshabad airport was YSR's mistake..!?

*Criticisms on ysr regarding shamshabad airport name change.
* shamshabad airport is India's first greenfield airport.
* The telangana government asked to develop this airport further.

People of both telugu states need no special mention of shamshabad Airport. It is known that this airport is also known as rajiv gandhi international Airport. Initially, this airport was named after NTR, but after the completion of this airport during the ysr regime, it was named as rajiv gandhi international Airport. shamshabad airport is the only civil airport serving Hyderabad. But at that time there was some criticism on ysr regarding changing the name. There are also those who express the opinion that changing the name of shamshabad airport is a mistake made by YSR. The airport is India's first greenfield airport built on a public-private partnership model.
At Begumpet airport, the international terminal is named after rajiv gandhi while the domestic terminal is named after tdp founder senior NTR. The new airport has only one terminal while the tdp has decided to continue this naming convention at the new airport. On march 14, 2008, when the shamshabad airport was inaugurated, the tdp repeated its demand to name the domestic terminal after NTR.
However, ysr did not pay much attention to TDP's demand. Still, this airport continues in the name of Rajiv Gandhi. Passengers continue to travel through this airport to the country and abroad. The state government is taking steps towards further development of rajiv gandhi international Airport. There is a chance that the number of services from this airport will increase in the coming days.
