Bastar bandh against SC-ST reservation decision…?
In its decision given on 1st august, supreme court gave the right to the states to create sub-classes in scheduled caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) caste. In this order, supreme court has also talked about implementing creamy layer in ST-SC reservation. Sarv Adivasi Samaj and sc Samaj have started protesting in Bastar, a tribal dominated area of Chhattisgarh, against this decision of the court. Regarding this, a Bastar bandh has been called on wednesday (21st August). This bandh will be for 11 hours from 6 am to 5 pm in Bastar. To make the bandh successful, tribal society has also intensified meetings in Bastar.
Bastar will remain closed on 21st August
Meetings are being held through the heads of the society in different rural areas as well as urban areas. Tribal society has called for keeping all the business institutions, transport services, schools, colleges of Bastar closed on 21st August. On the day of the bandh, the people of the society will express their anger by taking out a rally in Jagdalpur city against the court's decision. Divisional President of Sarva Adivasi Samaj Prakash Thakur said that on august 1, the supreme court, while giving its verdict in a case of Punjab, said that creamy layer has been implemented by doing quota over quota and sub-classification in the reservation of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
This demand will be made by submitting a memorandum
According to Prakash Thakur, "A bandh has been called by Scheduled Castes, scheduled tribes and other natives in protest against this decision. The president said that along with the Bastar bandh, a memorandum will also be submitted and it will be demanded that the Constitution be amended or the supreme court should withdraw its decision." He said that the effect of the bandh regarding this demand will be seen not only in Bastar but in the entire country. Bastar district President of Sarva Scheduled Castes vikram Lahare said that the tribal class is getting education only because of reservation. vikram Lahare said, "At present, only 1 or 2 generations have received education and now an attempt has been made to end reservation in the Constitution of India. Bharat Bandh will be organized against this and this entire bandh is being organized on the call of st and sc as well as all the natives."
