Did kolkata ASI Anup Dutta Know Rape-Murder Accused Sanjay Roy?

Following the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) summoning kolkata Police’s Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Anup Dutta on Tuesday, Union minister and West bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar has raised concerns about Dutta's close ties with Sanjay Roy, the accused in the rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor in Kolkata.

Majumdar shared photos on X showing Dutta and Roy together at a gathering reportedly associated with the ruling trinamool congress (TMC) in South Dinajpur. He criticized Dutta for his connections, suggesting that his involvement went beyond just running and included political affiliations.

Majumdar also questioned the safety and dignity of women in the state, calling for the resignation of chief minister Mamata Banerjee. Reports indicate that Dutta may have facilitated Roy’s accommodation in a police barrack and assisted him with a motorbike. The cbi has discovered that Roy contacted Dutta on august 9, the day the victim’s body was found, and is investigating whether Dutta helped Roy tamper with evidence or evade capture.

The cbi is examining whether Dutta had any prior knowledge of the crime. Roy, although not a regular police officer, was involved in various roles within the police force and was known to present himself as a police officer, including using police tags on his bike and clothing.
