Kids Narrow Escape-Mob tries to set fire on school Bus...
According to NDTV, a mob in Gopalganj, Bihar, stormed and tried to burn a school bus carrying children on fire on wednesday during the Bharat bandh call. The disturbance was stopped when the district administration and police acted quickly. A Bharat bandh, initiated by Dalit and Adivasi groups in opposition to a recent supreme court ruling on reserved seats for scheduled castes, has drawn people to the area. A group of people brandishing sticks are allegedly seen around a yellow bus in a video. A man was observed igniting a tire directly beneath the bus. The bus was on a blocked road with multiple burning tires visible in various places.
In a another video, guys attempt to block a woman riding pillion on a bike as it attempts to move through the area. Swarn Prabhat, superintendent of police in Gopalganj, told NDTV that the higher alert level was due to the Bharat bandh. He also mentioned that a large police detachment and magistrates had been stationed across the town.
According to Prabhat, the police have tracked down a few people who were using drone footage to cause disturbance. "I have instructed the police station to file FIRs against the identified troublemakers and send those who attempted to set the bus on fire to jail," he stated.
In Gopalganj, there were differing reactions to the Bharat bandh. On some highways, traffic flowed normally, but protesters along National Highway 27 and the railway tracks caused delays.
Dalit organisations called for a nationwide strike in response to a recent ruling by the supreme court that allowed states to create subcategories within the SCs in order to provide reservations to individuals who they believed to be more disadvantaged in terms of education and social status.
