Conflicts at the box office involving many films are a common occurrence in the film business. However, because there are enormous stakes involved, the effects can be disastrous when this conflict affects blockbuster movies. The same is true for Rajinikanth and Suriya, two well-known tamil actors who will square off at the box office in October. On october 10, Kanguva and Vettaiyan (Rajini) will both be released in cinemas.

Vettaiyan is a more localized movie starring Rajini, while Kanguva is a pan-Indian film starring Suriya. red Giant, the leading studio in tamil cinema, is supporting Vettaiyan, which is fantastic news for Rajini. They can quickly acquire a reasonable number of theaters. This would negatively impact the chances of Kanguva, a pan-Indian movie with far higher stakes.

Kanguva has significantly more excitement than Vettaiyan, and this will show in the movie's box office debut, which is bad news for the Rajini starring. The saddest part, though, is that when Kanguva and Vettaiyan square up at the box office, they will both come out on the short end. It is not prudent for both movies to undermine each other's chances. We'll have to wait and watch if this conflict really happens, or if influential people in the tamil film business step forward to mediate one of these movies out of it.
