With a significant presence in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kerala-based travel service company Alhind Group is about to establish its airline to give locals affordable air travel alternatives. The Civil Aviation Ministry has given the business, which has been a major force in the tourism sector for more than three decades, the go-ahead to launch Alhind air as an airline.

The Group is nearing the end of securing the necessary permissions, according to the announcement made by the chairman, Muhammad Haris. "We met with Cochin international Airport Limited (CIAL) officials last week, and we submitted all the paperwork needed to be granted permission to land at the airport," he added. "The no objection certificate (NOC) to launch the airline was already obtained by us. If not before, we want to start operations in january 2025," Haris stated, as cited by Khaleej Times.

Initial operations and fleet
With an initial investment of ₹200 crores to ₹500 crores as it adds more planes to the fleet, Alhind air is reportedly planning to launch its operations with three Atr-72 turboprop aircraft. The airline will concentrate on regional routes in southern india, including connections between Cochin, Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, and Chennai.

"In all, we will have five ATR aircraft to operate on regional routes. Cochin international Airport has given us all of its assistance for our activities. A senior group executive told CNBC-TV18 that when this procedure is finished, the employment process for pilots, cabin crew, engineers, and other ground workers will begin.

According to the group's promoter, the Alhind Group provides services including money exchange, travel packages, visa assistance, Haj-Umrah services, and airline tickets. With a revenue of ₹20,000 crore, the firm already has a strong sales network that might help the airline begin successfully.

Alhind Group is a prominent participant in the travel and tourism sector both domestically and internationally.

It is expected that the deliberate entry into the aviation industry would improve completion, maybe resulting in reduced prices and higher-quality services for passengers.

According to Mohammad Haris, the business is attempting to capitalize on the rapidly increasing air travel between india and the Gulf, where it serves as the General Sales Agent (GSA) for several airlines.
