You must have been shocked to hear that the monarch would be the one to wed his own daughter when you found out who had done so. We are talking about the well-known indian Mughal emperor who married his own daughter after his spouse passed away.

Shah Jahan, the Mughal emperor who built the Taj Mahal, married his own daughter Jahanara after mumtaz was away because he believed she resembled Mumtaz. On june 17, 1631, mumtaz died giving birth to Shah Jahan's fourteenth child.

Jahanara was just 17 years old when mumtaz died, and Shah Jahan had gone insane.  Shah Jahan married his biological daughter Jahanara in commemoration of mumtaz because she resembled mumtaz exactly.

Jahanara was equally troubled by her father's circumstances, therefore she did not oppose the marriage. Jahanara was the name of mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan's second child. According to accounts, Jahanara was an intelligent, pious Muslim who also had a deep understanding of politics.

To avoid defamation, Shah Jahan granted Jahanara the title of "Padshah Begum" to hide their marriage.

Aurangzeb was irritated by his dad because of his persistent mischievousness. This was the justification for his father Shahjahan's incarceration and his brother Dara Shikoh's murder in order to take the throne.

The British, who came to power after the Mughals, kept this chapter of history hidden from the general people.
