The maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) leaders have retracted their request for a maharashtra bandh, which was set for this Saturday. This decision was made in response to a bombay high court judgment that prevented individuals and political parties from carrying out the strike.
 
A countrywide strike was announced by Maharashtra's opposition leaders in protest of the Mahayuti government's sexual assault of two kindergarten girls at a school in badlapur, thane district.
 
But the court ordered political parties to abandon their plans for a maharashtra bandh, claiming that it would disrupt daily life in the state. Chief Justice DK Upadhyaya and Justice amit Borkar, sitting as a division bench, stated that significant losses would ensue for political parties and individuals pushing through with the bandh call on Saturday. These losses would affect not only the economy and business but also vital services and basic amenities, such as health care. Therefore, they must be avoided.
 
Uddhav thackeray, the head of the shiv sena (UBT) and a former chief minister of maharashtra, stated shortly after the court's order that even if he disagreed with the decision, he would follow it and rescind the bandh call.
 
"Although we disagree with the High Court's decision, we nonetheless have to respect it and call off the bandh. But we will still be using black ribbons to protest. We will take legal action if we are prevented from doing even this," uddhav thackeray declared.
 
"I implore people to congregate at their local big chowks, wear black flags, and cover their lips with black ribbons. I'll demonstrate for around two hours," he said.
 
Sharad Pawar, the president of the nationalist congress party (SP), also pleaded for the cancellation of Saturday's maharashtra bandh, stating that the courts must be respected.

"The High Court's ruling (on the bandh) cannot be appealed in the supreme court due to time constraints. Following the court's decision, Pawar declared, "The bandh call should be withdrawn in respect of the order given, as the indian judiciary is a constitutional body."
 
However, the senior lawmaker noted that the bandh call was an attempt to bring the government's attention to the public's outrage over the humiliating occurrence that occurred in the badlapur school, and that there was a great deal of indignation about it.
