Accused of raping and murdering a trainee doctor in Kolkata, Sanjoy Roy's mother stated that her son was "harmless" and that the crime might have been avoided if she had been stricter with him. Roy's mother said in an exclusive interview with india Today that her son could have been set up and wanted harsh punishment.

"This would not have occurred if I had been stricter. Even though his father was incredibly stern, he once looked up to him. Everything has gone wrong since my husband's passing, and my lovely family is now only in my memories," the woman remarked.

"I have no idea who persuaded him to act in this way... She said, "If someone has framed him, that person will face consequences.

Sanjoy Roy used to learn boxing and had a sporting inclination, according to his mother. He was a school topper and a member of the National Cadet Corps (NCC).

He used to look after me and even prepare meals for me. He never misbehaved with anyone, as you can verify with the neighbors," she said.

"I'll question, 'Babu, why have you done it?' if I run into him.'" "My son was never this way," she said.

'HAD NO idea HE USED TO GO TO RG KAR HOSPITAL'
It's interesting that she was unaware that her son was assigned to work as a civic volunteer at RG Kar Medical college and Hospital, the location where the 31-year-old doctor's partially nude body was discovered on august 9. CCTV evidence led to Roy's arrest the next day. At the scene of the crime, his Bluetooth headset was also discovered.

"I was unaware that he had previously visited RG Kar Hospital. But he skipped supper that evening," she remarked. Reports that her son used to see prostitutes were also refuted by her.

According to sources who spoke with india Herald, Roy drank beer and went to Sonagachi, a "red light area" in North Kolkata, prior to allegedly committing the murder. According to the police, Roy had a sexual addiction and had many pornographic videos on his phone.

Roy's mother claimed that following the death of his first wife from cancer, he developed an alcohol addiction.

"Sanjay had a lovely first wife. They were content. She was unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer. After his wife passed away, he most likely became despondent and started drinking, the woman stated. Roy supposedly had four marriages.

The mother of the accused emphasized that her daughters and sons-in-law had deserted her, leaving her powerless. "I have no idea how to file a court appeal. I'm alone myself. "My daughters have left me behind," she remarked.
