Exclusive CCTV footage of Sanjay Roy, the civic volunteer arrested earlier this month for the rape and killing of a trainee doctor at a government-run hospital in kolkata, has been made available to india Herald. Sanjay Roy may be seen entering the hospital on the night of august 9, the day he committed the horrible act, according to video taken from RG Kar Hospital.

This is the first instance of clear-cut visual evidence tying the accused to the case.

Sanjay Roy is seen in the video holding a helmet, which is prominently a component of the uniform given to kolkata police officers. He is dressed in trousers and a t-shirt.

In the video, a Bluetooth gadget is seen around Sanjay Roy's neck. The identical gadget, which the police subsequently found at the scene of the crime and which is currently a crucial exhibit in the continuing probe.

On august 9, as the 31-year-old postgraduate trainee doctor was relaxing after her shift at the RG Kar Medical college and Hospital in kolkata, she was sexually assaulted and killed. The following morning, her injured, semi-naked body was found within the seminar hall.

Roy was detained the next day on suspicion of being involved in the crime.

Thousands of medical professionals launched a countrywide demonstration shortly after the incident became public to show support for the victim and to urge that those involved face harsh punishment. In numerous places, healthcare professionals also stopped working.

According to a recent psychiatric assessment, Sanjay Roy exhibited "animal-like instincts," was hooked to porn, and felt no remorse for the murder.

"The man described the whole affair, including every little detail, without faltering and exhibited no remorse. He didn't seem to be regretting anything, a cbi official told the news agency PTI.

Large portions of pornographic material were discovered on Roy's confiscated cell phone by kolkata police prior to the probe being turned over to the cbi by the calcutta High Court.

Roy was spotted on august 8 at approximately 11 a.m., according to CCTV footage that was taken from the hospital.

Even after midnight on august 8, sources had told india Today tv that Roy also went to a "red light area" in North Kolkata. He subsequently approached a random woman for a picture of her in her underwear when he was also inebriated.

"On august 9, at about four in the morning, footage captured him reentering the same building. That was supported by certain scientific and technological information, the officer said.
