Authorities reported that the primary culprit in an Assamese gangrape case passed away on saturday after trying to leap into a pond to avoid being taken into custody by the police. The event happened at the crime site during an investigation.
 
When he made the effort to flee at 4 am, Tafazul islam, who was detained on august 23, was being led by police to the location where the 14-year-old girl had been gang-raped. After launching a rescue effort right away, the police pulled his corpse from the sea after two hours.


Three males, including islam, were involved in the gangrape. The teenager was on her way home after tutoring on thursday night when the event happened in the Nagaon area. She was reportedly attacked and sexually molested by three males on a motorcycle, leaving her hurt and unconscious at the side of the road.
 

After the girl was discovered, locals called the police, who then started an inquiry. The two other suspects are still being sought after.
 
At a hospital facility in the Nagaon area, the survivor is receiving treatment from a multispecialty team of physicians. In order to assist her cope with the trauma, a group of psychiatrists has also been notified and will offer therapy and mental support.
 

On Friday, the neighborhood saw a rise in protests, with business owners closing their doors and social and political groups calling for the arrest of those responsible and more protection for women and girls.
 
Local lawmakers, such as AIUDF mla Aminul islam and congress mla Sibamoni Bora, have denounced the event and demanded that those responsible be held accountable.
 
Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, had promised to take tough measures against the defendants.
