Sonam Bajwa, a punjabi Sikh, was born on august 16, 1989, in Nainital, Uttarakhand. This friday marks her 35th birthday. With a fee of Rs 3 crore each film, the actress is among the highest-paid celebrities in the punjabi cinema business. Her estimated net worth has been reported to be about Rs 40 crore.
 
Sonam Bajwa obtained her degree from delhi University prior to entering the acting industry. In 2012, she relocated to mumbai and competed in the Femina Miss india pageant. sonam bajwa then had a brief stint as an air hostess before leaving to pursue a career in cinema.

She starred alongside Gippy Grewal in the 2013 film Best of Luck before collaborating with diljit dosanjh in the 2014 National Award–winning picture punjab 1984. Over the past 10 years, Sonam has played the lead role in several successful films, including Carry on Jatta 3, Sardaar Ji, Manje Bistre, Honsla Rakh, and Guddiyan Patole.
 
The actress said in an interview in 2023 that she experienced bullying because of her appearance. Sonam had claimed, "I was bullied for my skin color when I was growing up because as a punjabi, I was not gori chitti (fair) enough," in a conversation with siddharth Kannan. I was never even invited to the homes of a couple of my relatives. Growing up, I never got to see their homes."
 
In an interview from the previous year, Sonam also disclosed that she had turned down bollywood scenes involving kissing. The actress stated to Film Companion, "I turned down a few offers in bollywood because I didn't know if punjab would accept them. We operate on the assumption that families are present. When I first started doing kissing scenes for movies, I was really afraid of how people would react to me since they are the ones who have shaped who I am. Will my family comprehend that this is for a movie? I was asking myself all these things."
