In a case involving Chinese enterprises operating in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in laos, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) charged two defendants on Saturday, according to authorities.

According to the chargesheet presented before the Special NIA court Panchkula, Haryana, accused Balwant, nicknamed bobby Kataria, a social media influencer, has been detained, but his colleague Ankit Shokeen, who is now stationed in laos, is evading capture.

According to NIA investigations, the accused and other individuals were involved in the recruitment and transportation of innocent job seekers through deceit and false promises. After been thus successfully tricked, the victims were turned over to Chinese businesses in laos, where they were made to do cybercrimes and scams under extremely harsh, demanding, and constrictive circumstances.

Investigations have shown that the Chinese firms used to seize the victims' passports and abuse them physically and psychologically if they refused to cooperate or carry out cybercrimes.

Bobby Kataria, Ankit Shokeen, another co-accused, and others devised the scheme. Together, they had founded MBK Global Visa Private Limited, a visa consultancy, and bobby was drawing young people looking for work to singapore and other countries by using his fame among young people. He would take advance money and then convince the victims to travel to Laos.

The indian Embassy in laos worked with the local law enforcement to free a large number of the victims from the grips of the fraudsters.

The goal of the ongoing investigations into this case is to find the other suspected members of the scam and bring down the entire gang.
