Those Guilty of Crimes Against women Must Not Be Forgiven-Modi

On Sunday, prime minister Narendra Modi emphasized the critical importance of women's safety in India, declaring that crimes against women are “unforgivable sins.” During his address at the ‘Lakhpati Didi Sammelan’ in Jalgaon, Maharashtra, Modi stressed the need to enhance both the strength and safety of mothers, sisters, and daughters. He reiterated this message, stating: “I have consistently highlighted this issue from the red Fort. I understand the anguish and frustration of women across the country. I urge all political parties and state governments to recognize that crimes against women are absolutely unforgivable.”

Modi also pointed out that those found guilty should not be excused, nor should anyone who aids them. He insisted that negligence in any sector—be it hospitals, schools, government offices, or the police—must be addressed, and accountability enforced. A strong, clear message must be communicated from the highest levels that such offenses will not be tolerated.

The Prime Minister’s remarks coincided with widespread protests across India, where thousands of women were demanding justice for the brutal rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor in Kolkata.

During the same event, PM Modi engaged with ‘Lakhpati Didis,’ women from self-help groups earning Rs 1 lakh annually, and celebrated the achievement of 11 lakh new Lakhpati Didis during his government’s third term.

Regarding women’s security, Modi highlighted his government's efforts to enforce stricter laws and impose severe penalties for crimes against women. He noted improvements in the legal process, such as eliminating delays in FIR registrations and allowing e-FIRs for victims who prefer not to visit a police station. Modi also underscored the government's initiatives to address obstacles faced by women, including granting property rights and facilitating access to bank loans, which previously hindered their ability to start businesses.

The prime minister concluded by reaffirming his commitment to addressing every challenge faced by women in the country, stating that his administration has consistently made decisions to support and empower them.
