Telangana cm Defends Demolition of Nagarjuna’s Convention Hall

Telangana chief minister Revanth reddy has voiced his support for the demolition of the N-Convention Centre, co-owned by actor nagarjuna Akkineni, asserting that it aligns with the principles of Lord krishna as described in the Bhagavad Gita. He emphasized that his government will take action against any encroachment on lakes, regardless of the individual’s influence.

Speaking at a Hare krishna Movement event, cm reddy referenced the Bhagavad Gita as a guiding inspiration for demolishing illegal structures. He noted that Lord Krishna’s teachings advocate for upholding Dharma (righteousness) to combat Adharma (unrighteousness), even if it involves conflict.

In line with these principles, the congress government has initiated demolitions of unauthorized constructions on water bodies' Full Tank Level (FTL) areas, managed by the hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA). cm reddy highlighted that despite pressure from influential property owners, the government remains committed to ensuring dharma prevails.

On Saturday, authorities demolished the N-Convention Centre in Hyderabad’s Madhapur, citing its construction on encroached land within the FTL of Tammidikunta Lake. nagarjuna sought a stay on the demolition from the telangana High Court, which granted an interim order halting further action.

Nagarjuna expressed on ‘X’ that the demolition was carried out based on misinformation and claimed that their construction adhered to legal standards. The hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), along with other departments, removed various encroachments, including the N-Convention Centre, from the FTL/Buffer zones of the lake.

The N-Convention Centre was reportedly built without necessary permissions and was situated in the FTL/Buffer zone of the lake. An official release confirmed that demolitions proceeded after proper legal procedures, with the High Court's interim stay issued later in the day.

The hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) had issued a preliminary notification in 2014 regarding the Tammidikunta Lake’s FTL/Buffer zones. The N-Convention Centre had contested this notification in court.
