History of Janmashtami in 2024: Lord krishna was the son of Devaki and Vasudev and the seventh avatar of Vishnu. He was created to vanquish Kansa, the brother of Devaki, and the demon king of Mathura. According to a prophecy, Devaki and Vasudev's eighth son will be the reason for Kansa's demise. Knowing this, Kansa kidnapped and imprisoned Devki and Vasudev. He murdered six of their offspring. But when their seventh kid was born, the fetus inexplicably moved from Devaki's womb to Princess Rohini's.

Following the birth of their eighth son, Krishna, the entire palace was plunged into a deep sleep. With a supernatural opening of the prison gates, Vasudev and the youngster managed to escape. He brought krishna to the Vrindavan home of Nand baba and Yashodha. Returning with a baby girl in tow, Vasudev exchanged their child with Krishna. The cruel monarch attempted to murder the young girl. But instead, she became Durga and forewarned him of his imminent destruction. krishna thus spent his childhood in Vrindavan and went on to murder his uncle Kansa. On Janmashtami, people commemorate the birth of Lord Krishna.
