Nanded mp Vasantrao Chavan has passed away. He was ill for some time and was undergoing treatment at kims hospital in Hyderabad. His condition suddenly deteriorated at midnight and he breathed his last at 4 am.
Vasantrao Chavan was admitted to the hospital due to difficulty in breathing and low bp problem. First he was admitted to a hospital in Nanded, but when the condition became serious, on the advice of doctors, he was shifted to kims hospital in hyderabad by air ambulance.
Who was Vasantrao Chavan?
Talking about political career, Vasantrao Chavan started his political career as the Sarpanch of Naigaon village. After this, he also served in the Zilla Parishad and was elected to the Zilla Parishad in 2002. He entered the maharashtra Legislative assembly as an independent and represented the Naigaon assembly constituency. In 2014, he joined the congress and was appointed to the Public Accounts Committee of the Assembly. Apart from this, he was also the president of Janata High school and Agri. Vasantrao Chavan had the distinction of becoming the first mla of this area after the formation of Naigaon assembly constituency in 2009. He played an important role in maintaining the dominance of congress in Nanded district, especially when senior leaders like ashok chavan and Bhaskarrao Khatgaonkar had parted ways with the Congress.
In the recent assembly elections, ashok chavan left the congress and joined the bjp, which seemed to clear the way for the bjp to win the Nanded and Hingoli lok sabha seats. But Vasantrao Chavan contested for the congress and defeated BJP's Pratap Patil Chikhlikar by a huge margin. This gave a clear message that even after the departure of ashok chavan, the hold of congress in Nanded remains strong.
