Renowned Indian-Origin doctor Killed in Alabama

Dr. Ramesh Peramsetty, a prominent Indian-origin physician, was shot dead in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on Friday. Dr. Peramsetty, known for his extensive contributions to healthcare, died at the scene.

Originally from tirupati district in Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Peramsetty was the founder and medical director of the Crimson Care Network, which comprises local medical professionals. His passing has deeply affected the medical community in Tuscaloosa, where he was well-regarded.

The Crimson Care Network expressed their sorrow in a facebook post, stating, “We have been informed of Dr. Ramesh Peramsetty’s passing. The Peramsetty family requests privacy during this difficult time and has received much support. We will continue to honor Dr. Peramsetty’s legacy and appreciate your understanding.” They added, “Please keep the Peramsetty family and the Crimson Care Network in your thoughts and prayers. Our clinics will remain open as we navigate this transition and will honor his legacy.”

About Dr. Peramsetty

Dr. Peramsetty graduated from Sri Venkateswara Medical college in 1986 and had 38 years of experience in Emergency and Family Medicine. He practiced in Tuscaloosa and several other locations and was affiliated with the Regional Medical Center. He also held a diploma in Child health (DCH).

Beyond his medical career, Dr. Peramsetty was active in philanthropy, donating Rs 14 lakh to Menakuru High school in Andhra Pradesh, where he studied, and contributing to the construction of a Sai temple in his village. local reports indicate that a street in Tuscaloosa was named in his honor for his significant contributions to the medical field. Dr. Peramsetty also played a vital role during the Covid-19 pandemic and received various awards for his efforts. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters, all residing in the US.
