DNA, Forensic Reports Show Only Sanjay Roy’s Involvement,
Following dna and forensic reports linking only the arrested accused, Sanjay Roy, to the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical college and Hospital on august 9, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is seeking a final opinion from experts at the All india Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). This step aims to ensure that no errors or omissions have occurred in the investigation
The victim’s family had initially suspected a gang rape, but trinamool congress (TMC) mp Mahua Moitra clarified on social media that the crime did not involve multiple perpetrators. She stated that there was no evidence of gang rape, fractures, or a rushed cremation, and that the autopsy was videographed. She also highlighted that the suspect was apprehended within 12 hours and that the cbi is handling the case.
Polygraph tests conducted on Roy, former RG Kar principal Sandip Ghosh, and five others have not yielded any indications of involvement by additional individuals, according to officials. Roy’s polygraph test was specifically aimed at determining whether anyone else was present during the crime, but his responses were consistently negative.
CCTV footage shows Roy entering RG Kar alone at 4:03 am on august 9. Although polygraph results are not admissible as evidence, they are used to explore any potential leads that might not have emerged during questioning.
Further investigation into Roy’s actions revealed that he had solicited sex prior to the crime, as corroborated by statements from civic volunteer Saurabh Bhattacharya and evidence from Roy’s mobile phone records and location data. Bhattacharya reported that Roy visited two red-light areas, Sonagachi and Chetla, on august 8 and solicited sex from two women, one of whom is known to Roy and the other being a married woman he referred to as his girlfriend. Statements from these women have been recorded as part of the ongoing investigation.
