Regretfully, sexual harassment is a pervasive practice in various businesses, including the motion picture industry. In kerala, there has been a significant surge in activity in recent years against sexual harassment and exploitation of women. This is because dileep kidnapped and mistreated a well-known actress a few years back.

In support of the aforementioned actress, several mollywood actresses organized and called for systemic changes that would make the film business a more secure environment for women. These incidents coincided with the then-widely popular Me-Too movement, which bolstered the voices of the harmed parties as a whole. Additionally, a few false complaints were made. In summary, the Me-Too movement's unofficial naming-and-shaming methods undoubtedly hurt the accused's reputation in the public eye, even if the victims were unable to get justice for their horrific and unfair experiences.

However, a recent action by the legal system brought this noxious problem to light once more. kerala and the country as a whole have been rocked by the Justice hema Committee report, which exposed the pervasiveness of sexual harassment in the malayalam cinema industry. Report findings about the frequency of abuse were startling. Actresses are coming out with accusations at an increasing rate after the publication of this report.

Renowned malayalam actor siddique was accused of rape by actress revathi Sampath, while director Ranjith Balakrishnan was accused of indecent behavior by bengali actress srilekha Mitra. What distinguishes these two claims from their historical precedents is that siddique and Ranjith have both resigned from their prominent positions in the kerala Film Board and the malayalam Movie Artists Association, respectively. This is quite uncommon. It demonstrates that not only are these charges grave, but also that things will drastically alter moving forward.
