FASTag is going to end! GNSS system will start soon!!!

Every passing day in India, something new is happening in the auto industry. Along with this, an increase is also being seen in toll collection. Till now traditional method has been used for toll collection, after which now the government is preparing to bring Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology. Earlier, Union minister Nitin Gadkari has announced the Global Navigation Satellite System. It is being said that this system is currently in the testing phase. After its arrival, the old toll technology can be abolished in India.

What is Global Navigation Satellite System?

GNSS will be based on navigation satellite system. It will have a satellite based unit, which will be installed in vehicles. With the help of the system, officials will be able to easily track when the car started using the toll highway. As soon as the vehicle leaves the toll road, the system will calculate the use of the toll road and deduct the amount. The most special thing about the GNSS system is that with its help, passengers will pay only for the distance they have travelled. With its help, passengers will also be able to know how much to pay and will be able to pay the toll accordingly. Another good thing is that after the introduction of this technology, traditional toll booths will also be removed, where many times long queues were formed.

When will this new system come?

At present, the government has not announced the date regarding this, but its testing is going on on two major highways of the country. These include Bengaluru-Mysore National Highway (NH-257) in karnataka and Panipat-Hisar National Highway (NH-709) in Haryana. As soon as the green signal is received from the government, it will be implemented in a phased manner.
