An outcry was sparked by a video that surfaced showing a 15-year-old Dalit boy and his grandmother being physically assaulted by police inside a madhya pradesh railway police station. A inquiry has been requested in the wake of the issue, and one officer has been suspended.

In the video, which is purportedly from october 2023, a woman named Kusum Vanskar is shown being kicked and struck with a stick by an officer named Aruna Vagane of the Katni government Railway police (GRP) station in jabalpur while she cries in agony in front of her grandson. A gang of police officers can be seen kicking and abusing the child in the CCTV clip.

As a result of the uproar, the incident's video has since gone viral, and an inquiry has been opened. The bjp administration in the state, led by Mohan Yadav, came under fire from congress leaders who used the episode as an illustration of "oppression against Dalits." Using a video of the event, madhya pradesh congress President Jitu Patwari declared, "This game of political malice must stop!" and claimed that the BJP's "oppression of Dalits has become the biggest weapon."

"Dalits of madhya pradesh are forced to live a horrific life under the misrule of the bjp," he added, referring to the occurrence as "gruesome." The chief minister need to step down right now if he is unable to defend the citizens of his state.
