A large number of its leaders have moved to the tdp, JSP, and BJP, the three ruling parties. Even in a big city like vijayawada, the ycp is becoming weaker. ycp is eroding in vijayawada Municipal Corporation with every day that goes by.
 
In the most recent local elections, the ycp secured 49 seats. One tdp MLA switched to ycp, bringing its strength up to 50. The ycp accomplished little to further the development of vijayawada, even after taking office for five years. Numerous ycp corporators began switching to other parties with the same explicit justification. There are now three corporators who have defected to tdp, and more are anticipated to do the same.

Mayor Bhagyalakshmi, former MLAs Vellampall Srinivas, Malladi Vishnu, and vijayawada East's party chief devineni avinash have been working diligently to save the remaining corporators on the directives of the YCP's high command. As part of their attempts, they met in secret at a vijayawada hotel. Eleven corporators, however, did not attend this meeting, which fueled further rumors.
 
Four of these eleven corporators reportedly intend to move to different parties. One of them might join the BJP, while three could leave for Janasena. It's noteworthy to note that these four corporators—along with the three who have already joined the TDP—come from the vijayawada West constituency. Rumor has it that ycp may lose all 11 of the corporators who were absent from the meeting.
