21 more people died in rain-related incidents in Gujarat. Thus, the number of people who lost their lives due to rain in four days has increased to 28. Of these, 13 people died due to drowning in water, 13 people died in incidents like house collapse and two people died in incidents of tree falling. Officials said that heavy rains continued for the fourth consecutive day on wednesday in some parts of the state. At the same time, 17,800 people have been evacuated from the flood-affected areas and taken to safe places.
A police officer said that those who lost their lives include seven people who went missing after a tractor trolley was swept away while crossing a bridge near Dhawana village in Halvad taluka of Morbi district on Sunday. Water was flowing through this bridge. He said that their bodies have been recovered. Even as rains subsided in Vadodara, low-lying areas were waterlogged and buildings, roads and vehicles were submerged as the Vishwamitri river, which flows through the city, breached its banks and entered residential areas.

As flood-like situation persisted in many parts of gujarat, prime minister Narendra Modi spoke to gujarat chief minister Bhupendra patel over the phone to take stock of the situation and assured the state of all possible assistance from the Centre to deal with the crisis. On wednesday, districts like Devbhoomi Dwarka, Jamnagar, rajkot and Porbandar in Saurashtra region received rainfall ranging from 50 mm to 200 mm in a span of 12 hours till 6 pm. During this period, Bhanvad taluka of Devbhoomi Dwarka district received 185 mm of rain, the highest in the state.
