Chilling Details of the First Three Calls to Victim's parents Revealed

Twenty-one days after the tragic death of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical college, distressing details have emerged about the initial communication with her parents. The case has escalated through various courts, revealing serious mishandling by both the college and the TMC administration.

The victim was murdered on the night of august 8-9, and her parents were contacted three times by the hospital on the morning of august 9. The first call came at 10:53 am from the hospital's assistant superintendent, who only informed the parents that their daughter’s condition was serious and urged them to come to the hospital immediately. This call, as per police records, does not detail the conversation, but audio recordings confirm it was the first of three calls.

In the second call, the victim’s mother was directed to speak with the head of the chest department at the hospital. The third call, made by the same assistant superintendent, conveyed the devastating news that their daughter might have died by suicide. This call was made after the police had arrived at the hospital, and it left the mother distraught.

The communication practices of the hospital administration have come under intense scrutiny. The victim's parents reported being made to wait three hours, suspecting the delay was intentional. However, kolkata Police's timeline disputes this, stating that the parents arrived at the hospital by 1 pm and were shown their daughter’s body shortly thereafter.

The case has also raised questions about the hospital’s failure to file a police complaint promptly. The formal investigation into the unnatural death only began after the victim's father filed an FIR later that night. Both the calcutta High court and the supreme court have been critical of the handling of the case and the hospital's procedures under then-principal Dr. Sandip Ghosh.
