Chennai to Host Two Major Semiconductor Plants

In a major boost to tamil Nadu's industrial sector, chennai is set to welcome two significant semiconductor facilities following agreements signed during chief minister MK Stalin's recent visit to the United States. These deals were finalized at a high-profile investors' conference in San Francisco, reflecting Chennai's growing prominence in the tech industry.

One key agreement will see the establishment of a nokia research institute at Sirupcheri Chipget in chennai, with a substantial investment of Rs 450 crore. This facility will concentrate on cutting-edge technologies, including 10G, 25G, 50G, and 100G services, and is expected to create around 100 new jobs.

In another major development, Pay Ball has secured a deal to set up an artificial intelligence-focused center in Chennai. This center is anticipated to generate approximately 1,000 jobs.

Additionally, cm Stalin observed the signing of an agreement with a microchip company to create a Semiconductor Research Centre in Semmanchery, Chennai. With an investment of Rs 250 crore, this center will provide employment for about 1,500 individuals.

Applied Materials Company will also establish an AI-driven semiconductor manufacturing facility in Taramani, chennai, which is expected to offer 500 jobs.

These agreements represent a significant advancement for Chennai’s semiconductor and tech sectors, promising substantial economic growth and job creation for the region.
