Modi 3.0: PM's Directive to Work Triple Time Ahead of 100-Day Milestone

In a comprehensive six-hour Council of Ministers meeting this week, prime minister Narendra Modi emphasized the need for heightened effort in his government’s third term. Addressing his ministers, PM Modi declared, “We will work three times harder in my government’s third term. I advise all colleagues to work three times harder as a team.”

During the meeting, which also served as an orientation for many new ministers and secretaries, PM Modi acknowledged the extended duration of the session for first-time attendees but reassured them, “You will get used to it.” Union minister Kiren Rijiju echoed the sentiment that no goal was too ambitious, urging the setting of high targets.

The meeting, held in anticipation of the Modi Government’s 100-day anniversary on september 5, highlighted 73 key decisions made across nine priority areas. Major initiatives included the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS), an expansion of the PM Awas Yojana with an additional three crore houses, and several new infrastructure projects. The prime minister noted the identification of 252 action points to implement these decisions.

Key Areas of Focus: The government’s priority areas for Modi 3.0 include Garib Kalyan (welfare of the poor), yuva (youth), Rozgar (employment), Annadata (farmers), Nari shakti (women empowerment), and infrastructure. Each department has been tasked with outlining its top ten actions before the september 5 deadline, with Union Ministers Mansukh Mandaviya and ram mohan Naidu overseeing this process.

Major Decisions Highlighted: In the presentation to the prime minister, several significant decisions were noted:

Expansion of PM Awas Yojana: Shortly after the new government assumed office, the Union cabinet approved the expansion of this housing scheme.
Rules to Combat Examination Leaks: New regulations have been implemented to address examination fraud.
Increase in Medical Seats: Announced by the PM from the red Fort, this initiative aims to boost the number of medical seats across the country.
Internship Scheme: A new scheme to provide internships to one crore youth at top 500 companies, with incentives for both employers and interns.
Infrastructure Developments: Over 40 decisions related to infrastructure were highlighted, including new rail and hydel projects, metro rail expansions, the creation of 12 manufacturing clusters, eight high-speed road corridors, and three new airports. Despite these advancements, there was a call to accelerate capital expenditure, with only Rs 2.5 lakh crore spent so far this financial year, against a target of Rs 11 lakh crore.

Other Notable Announcements: The unveiling of deep-sea ports, the introduction of three new criminal laws, and the establishment of five new districts in Ladakh were also mentioned as key achievements in the first 100 days, along with initiatives like BioE3 and Vigyan Dhara.
