Body of Awami League leader Ishaque ali Khan Panna Found in Meghalaya, 


Discovery and Handover: The body of Ishaque ali Khan Panna, a prominent leader of Bangladesh’s Awami League, was found earlier this week in a decomposed state at a betel nut plantation in Meghalaya. On august 26, local residents discovered the body in Dona Bhoi village, located approximately 1.5 kilometers from the bangladesh border. The body was later identified through his passport.

Details of the Incident:

  • Cause of Death: According to the post-mortem examination, Panna died from asphyxia due to throttling. The forensic report indicated he had been strangled, with injury marks on his head, including lacerations and bruises that suggest he struggled before his death.
  • Circumstances: Panna reportedly attempted to flee to india via the Dona border at Kanighat in Sylhet on the night of august 24. His attempt to escape coincided with the political turmoil in bangladesh following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on august 5.

Handover Process: The body was officially handed over to Bangladeshi authorities at the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Dawki-Tamabil. The handover involved family members of the deceased, Border Guards bangladesh (BGB) personnel, immigration police, and other officials.
