Telangana Faces Heavy Rains: chief minister A revanth reddy Oversees Relief Efforts

Heavy rains continued to batter several parts of Telangana, including Hyderabad, on sunday, prompting chief minister A revanth reddy to call an emergency review meeting with ministers, officials, and elected representatives. reddy assessed the situation in the rain-affected regions and communicated with key ministers—Bhatti Vikramarka, N Uttam Kumar reddy, Tummala Nageshwar Rao, Damodara raja Narasimha, and Jupalli krishna Rao—via phone to discuss the ongoing relief efforts in submerged areas.

The Meteorological Centre issued a red warning for the state, forecasting very heavy to extremely heavy rain in isolated areas of Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal, Mahbubabad, and Jangaon districts from 8:30 am on sunday until 8:30 am on september 2.

The South Central Railway (SCR) experienced significant disruptions due to waterlogging on tracks. Several passenger trains were either canceled, partially canceled, or diverted. In mahabubabad district, floodwaters washed away a section of gravel under a railway track near Kesamudram, leaving passengers stranded at the Kesamudram railway station.

The intense rainfall also caused rivulets to overflow in some districts, disrupting road links between villages. The Met Centre predicted continued heavy to very heavy rain in komaram bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagital, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Vikarabad, and sangareddy districts on Sunday.

Hyderabad faced substantial rainfall, resulting in widespread waterlogging throughout the city. The Met Centre indicated that moderate to heavy rain, along with thunderstorms and gusty winds up to 40-50 kmph, is expected for Hyderabad. There is also a low to moderate risk of flash floods in Ranga reddy, Hyderabad, Medchal, Vikarabad, and sangareddy districts.

Following Saturday's heavy rains, which led to the inundation of low-lying areas and disrupted village road links, chief minister reddy convened a teleconference with the Chief Secretary, DGP, and officials from the State Municipal Administration, Energy, panchayati Raj, HYDRAA, and Irrigation departments. reddy instructed district Collectors, SPs, and officials from Revenue, Irrigation, and Municipal departments to conduct field visits to the flood-affected areas and remain vigilant over the next 24 hours.
