ED Detains AAP mla Amanatullah Khan After Extensive Questioning

Following six hours of interrogation, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested aam aadmi party (AAP) member Amanatullah Khan at his home. Khan had previously announced that ED officials arrived at his Okhla residence to arrest him. The arrest relates to an investigation into his alleged involvement in the waqf board scandal.

In a video posted earlier today on his X account, Khan stated that he had been compliant with all the ED’s notices but now faced a search warrant for his arrest. He claimed the action was taken “at the behest of the dictator” and labeled it as part of a larger scheme to harass him and other AAP leaders.

Khan expressed his frustration in a post on X, questioning whether serving people honestly is now considered a crime and lamenting the persistence of what he views as a dictatorship.

Delhi police and the Central Reserve police Force (CRPF) have been stationed at Khan’s residence. Several AAP leaders, including manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, criticized the BJP-led central government, alleging that central agencies are targeting those who oppose the ruling party.

Former delhi Deputy chief minister manish Sisodia questioned whether the ED’s function is solely to suppress voices critical of the bharatiya janata party (BJP). In his post, he suggested that the ED’s only purpose now is to silence critics of the BJP.

Sanjay Singh shared a video on X showing Khan confronting ED officials and questioning their presence at his home. Singh condemned the ED’s actions as “cruelty,” asserting that there is no evidence against Khan and criticized the continued “hooliganism” of both the Modi government and the ED.

Background on the Case Against Amanatullah Khan

Amanatullah Khan, mla for Okhla in South east delhi, is under investigation for money laundering linked to his time as chairman of the delhi Waqf Board. The investigation stems from a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) FIR filed in 2016, which accuses Khan of making illegal appointments to non-existent positions at the delhi Waqf Board, leading to financial losses for the delhi government and personal gains for himself.
