20 Dead as Heavy Rains Cause Floods in telangana and Andhra Pradesh


Torrential rains have pummeled telangana and andhra pradesh for two consecutive days, leading to at least 20 fatalities, widespread flooding, and significant disruptions to transportation.


Heavy rains, driven by a depression, have caused severe flooding across several districts, with vijayawada in andhra pradesh being the hardest hit. Thousands have been evacuated to relief camps as rivers overflow and water inundates homes and streets.

The South Central Railway reported the cancellation of six trains on september 2 due to track flooding, following the cancellation of 140 trains and diversion of 97 on september 1. Schools in hyderabad are closed, and telangana chief minister A revanth reddy appealed to offices and businesses to allow employees to work from home.Prime minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister amit shah spoke to the chief ministers of both states, assuring them of all possible help from the Centre.


In response, the indian Air Force has conducted relief operations in vijayawada, deploying aircraft to deliver teams and supplies. Telangana's government is requesting the Centre to declare the floods a national calamity and has invited prime minister Narendra Modi to visit the affected areas.

Congress leader Rahul gandhi has expressed solidarity with the flood victims, calling for mobilization of resources for relief efforts.
