"If you believe in yourself and have dedication, pride and never quit, you will be the winner. There are no shortcuts to any place worth going." Deepthi Jeevanji is a strong believer in philosophy, and she has persevered in overcoming obstacles to reach eminence in the field. On september 3, Tuesday, in the women's 400m t20 final of the paris Paralympics 2024, the 21-year-old ran her way to the bronze medal. With a timing of 55.82 seconds, the indian sprinter made it to the podium.

Despite facing obstacles due to her intellectual disability, the young athlete from telangana has become a rising star in the para sports community. Jeevanji's talent was immediately apparent when he was discovered at the age of 15 by N Ramesh, a coach from the sports Authority of india (SAI), at a state-level athletics tournament. Her experience in para athletics began when Ramesh took her under his tutelage.

At the 2019 Asian youth Championships in Hong Kong, Jeevanji made her debut on the international scene and demonstrated her potential in the sport by winning a bronze medal. Jeevanji's will to strive never faltered in spite of the challenges her intellectual disability presents when it comes to self-expression. Between 2019 and 2022, she engaged in many competitions arranged by the Athletics Federation of india (AFI) while maintaining her intense training regimen.

She won gold medals in the 100- and 200-meter races in the Khelo india youth Games 2020 in Guwahati, demonstrating the result of her efforts. After this accomplishment, she won more medals at the National junior and youth Championships, which made her a Khelo india Athlete.

Jeevanji's most notable accomplishment was in the 2023 Asian Para Games, where she broke both the Asian and Games records. Later, at the 2024 World Championship, she established a new World Record with a time of 55.07 seconds. She won a gold medal for this outstanding effort, confirming her as a major player in the paraathletics world. Even if the record was shattered during the Paralympics in paris, Deepthi is still a formidable force in the world of sports.
