Vinayaka Chaturthi. This festival has a lot of importance in our Hindu tradition. As soon as Vinayaka Chaturthi comes, children and adults all celebrate this festival with great enthusiasm and excitement. Today is september 7th. Mandapams are built and special pujas are performed. Vigneshwara is offered with fruits that are very favorite of Lord Ganesha and the blessings of Vigneshwara are taken. This festival is very special.
Celebrating the Vinayaka Chaturthi festival has been a tradition since the british period. In 1892, the british government imposed a ban on Hindu assemblies through the Anti-Public assembly Act. Lokmanya Tilak, the indian freedom fighter, left no small chance to ignite the national spirit among all the people in support of the indian freedom movement against the British. He started the Ganapati Utsavs and shivaji Utsavs which are going on continuously all over the country for the first time. We are celebrating these festivals with great pomp even today. We make huge idols and worship them all the time. We keep increasing the height of the Ganesha idol every year. Now that is also a record.
Everyone is eagerly waiting to see who will be the tallest Ganesha this year from the telugu states. However, gajuwaka in Visakhapatnam has had a good reputation since 2012, which has been putting up huge Ganesha idols. In 2023, the organizers installed the Sri Anantha Panchamukha maha Ganapati form at a height of 117 feet. It is recognized as the tallest eco-friendly Ganesha idol in India. This year Sri maha Uchishta Ganapati is being installed at a height of 100 feet. Even though the height is less compared to last year, it will stand as an attractive statue like any statue in the telugu states. Meanwhile, the organizers are creating another main attraction of this idol next to Bada Ganesh in ayodhya Ram Lalla temple setup. This time this idol is placed in the srinagar area, half a kilometer away from Lanka Maidan in Gajuwaka. They said that like every year, the immersion of the idols involves the use of fire engines as well as milk and water brought from various holy rivers.
