Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated SEMICON india 2024 on wednesday at the india Expo Mart in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. During his address, he emphasized that india is an ideal location for investment, highlighting the government's commitment to stable policies and a conducive business environment.

"This is the right time to be in India. You are in the right place at the right time. In 21st-century india, when the chips are down, you can bet on india," PM Modi declared. He reiterated India's ambition to become a semiconductor powerhouse, referencing the era of "silicon diplomacy." india aims to expand its electronics sector to $500 billion by the end of the decade, up from its current size of $150 billion.

PM Modi also mentioned that india is preparing a workforce of 85,000 technicians, engineers, and R&D experts to support the semiconductor industry. He underscored the goal of having Indian-made chips in every global device and highlighted that over Rs 1.5 lakh crore has been committed to semiconductor manufacturing, with numerous projects in the pipeline.

About SEMICON india 2024

The three-day event, running from september 11 to 13, is themed "Shaping the Semiconductor Future." It will feature India's semiconductor strategy and policy, aiming to position the country as a global hub for semiconductors. The conference will host over 250 exhibitors and 150 speakers, including top leaders from global semiconductor companies.

On Tuesday, PM Modi emphasized India's potential to be a trusted partner in a diversified semiconductor supply chain and assured a stable and predictable policy regime. This statement came during the Semiconductor Executives’ Roundtable held at his residence.
