The National Crime Records Bureau i.e. NCRB had released a report regarding the statistics of suicide cases in the year 2022. According to this report, in the year 2021, more than 1.64 lakh people gave their lives by committing suicide in India. And in this, the highest number of deaths due to suicide occurred in Maharashtra. According to the NCRB report, there was an increase of 7.2 percent in the cases of suicide in 2021 as compared to the year 2020. In maharashtra, 22,207 people died by suicide in the year 2021, this figure is the highest in the whole of India.
Figures of 5 states 50 percent
While in maharashtra more than 22,000 people lost their lives by committing suicide. So in this case, tamil Nadu is at number two where more than 18,925 people lost their lives by suicide. So madhya pradesh is at third place where 14,965 people took their lives by suicide. In this case, West bengal is at number four, where 13,500 people committed suicide. So karnataka is at fifth place, where 13056 people committed suicide. Suicides in these five states alone were 50.4% of the whole of India. The remaining 23 states and eight union territories of india accounted for 49.6% of the total suicides.
