Celebrates Student’s Birthday with Lavish Midday Meal Featuring Bhetki and Pomfret

At Ghughubesiya junior High school in rural Howrah, West Bengal, the midday meal took on a special significance recently as the school celebrated a student's birthday in a unique and lavish way.

Headmaster Narayan Bera organized a special "Tithi Bhojan" to mark his son Anamitra Bera’s seventh birthday. This tradition, which allows for a celebratory midday meal on special occasions, was held on the school premises during the regular tiffin time on Wednesday.

The menu was a feast for the students, featuring a range of protein-rich and delectable dishes. Highlights included bhetki cutlet, basanti pulau, cauliflower roast, pomfret, chicken kosha, and chutney. For dessert, students enjoyed payas, ice cream, and paan. Additionally, the children received colored pencils as return gifts, and a wheelchair was donated to a differently-abled student.

In addition to the celebration, key members of the local panchayat, including BDO Sanju Guha Majumdar, Block Inspector madhurima Das, and panchayat Samiti education Officer Moumita Das, were invited to the event. Headmaster Narayan Bera explained that Tithi Bhojan is a program designed to let people celebrate special occasions with a grand meal for the community, and he chose his son's birthday for this meaningful gesture.
