Rain continues in Himachal Pradesh, 31 roads closed?

A total of 31 roads have been closed for traffic due to the ongoing rain in many parts of Himachal Pradesh. Officials gave this information on Friday. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of moderate flood danger in parts of shimla and Sirmaur districts till Saturday.

Light rain continued in some parts of the state and Guler recorded the highest rainfall of 64.2 mm since thursday evening, while Palampur recorded 46.4 mm, Dharamshala 43 mm, Kalpa 30 mm, Salapar 27.1 mm, Solan 26.2 mm, shimla 26 mm, Chaupal 21.4 mm, Sangla 20.8 mm, Jubbarhatti 20.5 mm, naina Devi 18.4 mm and Dhaula Kuan 13.5 mm.

According to the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC), a maximum of 10 roads are closed in Kangra, seven in Mandi, five in Sirmaur district, four in shimla, three in Kullu and one each in Kinnaur and bilaspur districts. SEOC said that electricity and water supply have also been affected due to rain in the state.

Himachal Pradesh has received 20 percent less rainfall than normal since the arrival of monsoon on june 27. The state has received 545.2 mm rainfall against the average of 682.4 mm. According to officials, 165 people have died in rain-related incidents during the monsoon season from june 27 to thursday (September 12) while 30 people are still missing. He said that the state has suffered a loss of Rs 1,323 crore.
