Onam: How to Prepare Traditional Onam Sadhya...?

The Hindu community, particularly in Kerala, celebrates onam, an annual harvest and cultural celebration. The malayalam Solar Calendar's Chingam month is when the festival is observed. The onam celebrations this year will begin on september 6 and end on september 15. Cleaning the house, taking showers in the morning, creating Pookalam, decorating the surroundings with flowers, getting together with friends and family, and savoring a big onam Sadhya are all common activities during onam celebrations.

A feast known as onam Sadhya is served on the final day of the yearly harvest celebration. The word "Sadhya" refers to the feast, which is well-known for its wide variety of delicacies and cultural significance.

A total of 26 dishes are served during this meal, including rice, sambhar, rasam, kaalan, Inji, banana, Pachadi, Uperi, Palada Pradhaman, Poovan Pazham, Kichadi, Morru-Kachiyatha, Pappadam, Chena Mezhukkupuratti, Pulissery, Olan, Ellisheri, Sarkara Varatti, Inji Thayir, Nei, and Pazham Pradhaman.

How Is onam Sadhya Prepared?

Onam Sadhya preparation is a labor-intensive process that requires assistance from others. Because there are so many different dishes in it, you may need assistance from the whole family to finish it quickly.

Step 1: Since sambhar and rasam are curry dishes that require time to prepare, start with those. These two curries are created with tomatoes, tamarind, and various spices such as chili powder, coriander, and black pepper. They are both flavorful and spicy.

Step 2: Delegate someone to cut all the fruits and vegetables, including the raw jackfruit, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, potatoes, carrots, yams, and moringa.

Step 3: Begin preparing the remaining curry dishes, such as Moru Kachiyathu, Parripu Curry, Inji Curry, and Mango Curry.

Step 4: After preparing the curries, begin preparing the less labor-intensive dishes, such as kaalan, avial, thoran, kichadi, and pachadi.

Step 5: How are desserts forgotten? Begin preparing the Palada and Pazham Pradhamans, which will be served at the conclusion of the dinner, when they are finished.

Step 6: In order to serve hot food, finish preparing the rice, pappadam (to serve crisp), upperi, and sharkara varaatti.

Step 7: Using banana leaves, serve your family small amounts of each of these prepared foods.

Step 8: You can bring pickles and bananas from the market ahead of time.

Step 9: Savor the customary onam Sadhya.
