Many in maharashtra were incensed by Nehru's depiction of Chhatrapati shivaji Maharaj as a "misguided patriot." Nehru ordered the construction of a shivaji statue in maharashtra to calm the populace, and Yashwantrao Chavan was instrumental in this process.
 
In addition, the congress party has a reputation for trying to discredit Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the man who drafted the indian Constitution, by losing to him twice in lok sabha elections. Comparably, the congress party has continuously disregarded Swatantryaveer Savarkar, a practice that is being carried out by current leaders like rahul Gandhi.
 
The dynasty politics of congress have always been threatened by Maharashtra's firm ideological position. As a result, the party has regularly attacked the ideas of Maharashtra. For instance, Chhatrapati shivaji Maharaj's statues have been dismantled by the Congress-led administrations in madhya pradesh and Karnataka, and there is opposition to both the installation of new statues and the recognition of Shivaji's services.
 
Congress officials have also spoken disparagingly about the descendants of Chhatrapati shivaji Maharaj. Leaders of the maha Vikas Aghadi agree with certain historians who even assert that a dargah at Vishalgad is responsible for the restoration of Shivaji's lineage. The congress party's longstanding disdain for the heroes of maharashtra is indicative of its larger propensity to discredit local pride and historical legacies. Maharashtrians must maintain their resolve and respect their unique cultural history.
